I came into the world in 1938, don't remember much about it mind you, and no I wasn't the most beautiful baby in the world so I've been told. I didn't have a hair on my head until I reached the age of 16 months. My mother must have despaired over me.
When it finally grew it was blonde which was one bonus, but straight and I expect whispy.
My mother told me how she bought all sorts of remedies from the chemist to try and get my hair to curl. With out success of course.
Although I was young I remember there was a war on, although it was just hearsay to us as we lived in a small seaside town called Rhos on Sea. All the excitement we had due to the war was seeing a barrage balloon floating past behind the houses, it must have escaped. And seeing a fighter plane that had landed in a field near our school, we were all agog believing it to be a German plane.
There were lots of horses and carts around then, Our breadman delivered the bread with a horse and cart, and the laundry man had a huge plough horse drawing his wagon.
Cars were scarce so we could go where we wanted at anytime, and crime was unknown. We roamed the fields and mountains and went to the beach whenever we felt like it.
As I was small I just used to traipse along behind the others. I just wish children in this day and age could do what we did, how much happier they would be.
Our special treats were Sat mornings at the Cinema, I wasn't to keen on all the cowboy and Indian films they used to show but I still wouldn't miss going.
Sweets were an unknown quantity until well after the war, but what we never had we didn't miss.
I could go on and on, but if your not into life stories they can be quite a bore, so back to the present.
I wish computers had been invented long ago. I could have done with some of the money I am earning now when I was younger. Although I do enjoy the holidays we are able to take which wouldn't be posible on my pension.
I didn't know a single thing about the PC, not even how to turn it on, but in two and a half years I have hopefully learned all I need to know, even down to SEO, I have always done my own and managed to stay on the top search pages for the last couple of years.
Of course if I get a bit lazy and neglect it for a while They do start to go up and down so then I have to set to again and start working on them.
It is not so easy now as Google tends to alter things so often, but I just go on the forums and find out if I have missed something.
A bit of common sense is all that is needed. There is no need to spend money, some people spend hundreds of dollars on SEO and even then they have no guarantees that they will get on the first search page.
Spend time on the forums you can learn a lot from them, read articles on SEO and search engines.
Don't waste time like I did at first, you don't need to make your site pretty, it is a business site, it should be tidy and colours that suit the eye. No glaring yellows or bright colours for the background. The same goes for the HTML keep it tidy and mend any broken links.
You must learn, and the only way to do that is by reading tutorials, and visiting forums, you can find tutorials about almost everything on the internet, you just have to search.
